Featured Demonstration: Networking Warfighters Today
Aided by the collaboration capabilities of the Command Post of the Future (CPOF) software and the Tactical Ground Reporting System (TIGR), the latest addition to the General Dynamics Battle Command portfolio, General Dynamics will demonstrate a realistic operational vignette to highlight the vital communication link from higher headquarters to the individual soldier.
Empowered by the Warfighter Information Network- Tactical (WIN-T), the scenario will pinpoint how WIN-T enables secure networked command, control, communications and computers providing U.S. forces from the command post to the warfighter at the tactical edge with unfettered access to information.
The scenario highlights General Dynamics’ solution to the complex challenges associated with delivering secure wideband communications and situational awareness capabilities to dismounted soldiers and forward sensors across the distributed battlespace.
Key demonstration enablers:
Tactical Ground Reporting System (TIGR) — TIGR is designed specifically for small unit leaders at the Company and below level who need full-mission-cycle support. It facilitates collaboration and information sharing for planning, analysis, execution and debriefing while tracking changes dynamically. Additional components of the demonstration include:
- CoMotion® visualization
- Command Post of the Future (CPOF)
- Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit (HMS), Rifleman Radio
- Land Warrior ensembles
- Rugged, tactical computer laptops and hand-held computing devices
- Secure voice and data products
- Tactical Airspace Integration System (TAIS)
- Tactical communication terminals and antennas
- WIN-T vehicles and components
Equipping, Securing and Connecting the Force
Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit (HMS) network radios: The Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit (HMS) Rifleman Radio (AN/PRC-154) is optimized for operation in Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) networks. The Rifleman Radio has completed Performance Verification Testing, Environmental testing, EMI testing, Government Limited User Testing and is on schedule to be the first radio to receive NSA certification to run SRW.
Land Warrior: A fully equipped Land Warrior ensemble will be used to demonstrate how the warfighter digitally connects to the tactical network and includes how situational awareness data looks on the Land Warrior helmet-mounted or wrist display.
Single-Board Computing: The PX3030 single-board computer is the next generation of VPX 3U conduction-cooled single-board computers, providing advanced Core2Duo processing for bladed enclosures.
Stryker VDET smart display: Now in full production, the VDET display incorporates Intel Core2Duo computing, touch screen, and high-end NVIDIA graphics processing which can run virtual reality-type training applications in a space, weight, power and cost-efficient package.
Tactical Computing: Connecting the warfighter to the tactical network requires a full range of rugged computing products and related equipment, such as the General Dynamics Itronix GD8000 rugged computer, the Common Hardware/Software III (CHS-3) Multi-Processor Ethernet-Switched Combat Chassis – 5 (MECC-5) and the Mounted Tablet (M-Tablet). General Dynamics enables the rapid, global distribution of this essential gear using the CHS-3 contract. In addition, our small-networked processor (SNP) family of embedded systems enables soldiers and leaders unprecedented network access for a more robust common operating picture needed to succeed in an asymmetric environment.
- CHS-3 is a competitively awarded contract vehicle available to all branches of the U.S. military and all government agencies. Existing products and services already on the contract can be quickly procured using the CHS 3 vehicle; new products and services not already on the contract can be quickly added.
Training and Simulation — Communication Systems Simulation Trainer (CSST) and Computer-based Simulation: Building, connecting, securing and sustaining the network depends on the proficiency of the warfighter to understand the equipment and operate it flawlessly during a mission. General Dynamics demonstrates both Communication Systems Simulation Trainer and computer-based simulation training systems currently used by warfighters scheduled to deploy with a WIN-T Increment 1 system.
Information Assurance:
- Sectéra® vIPer™ Universal Secure Phone is a cost-effective STU/STE replacement providing the latest technology for secure, end-to-end Voice over IP and PSTN networks
- Sectéra Edge™ Smartphone is the only Secure Mobile Environment Portable Electronic Device (SME PED) certified by the NSA for Type 1 use
- TACLANE® Family of high-speed in-line network encryptors
- Trusted Virtual Environment (TVE) is a software application that allows users to access multiple operating systems, security levels and domains from a single computer
Connectivity on-the-move: Joint service, tactical-communication terminals and antennas demonstrate how critical satellite communications are used by the force on-the-move or the commander in the command post.
Battle Command Framework: The Battle Command Framework significantly enhances the commander’s and staff's ability to conduct collaborative mission planning and execution supporting troop deployment, transforming LandWarNet, and the full spectrum of operations for the expeditionary Army.
