Why Did We Start Ripcord?
Paper records are a nightmare. They take up real estate. They aren’t secure. You can too easily lose them, misfile them or mislabel them. With Ripcord, you can turn your paper records trapped in warehouses into meaningful data. Ripcord uses robots to scan and classify your paper records so you get faster, cheaper and more accurate digitization. And it uses sophisticated software to give you access to and insights from your records.
Who Is Ripcord?
Ripcord is the world’s first robotic digitization company. We are using sophisticated automation and software to provide customers with a secure, fast and all-inclusive records management solution at low, predictable prices. Ripcord was established in 2014 because of a customer problem and is the first company to apply vision robotics to paper digitization.

As CEO, co-founder and member of the board of directors for Ripcord, Alex Fielding is responsible for the leadership, vision and execution of the company. Fielding started his career as an engineer at Cisco Systems and Apple, where he worked on multiple generations of MacOS, PowerBook, Network Server and was part of the first iMac team. Shortly after departing Apple, he worked at Exodus Communications with Ellen Hancock, Exodus’ CEO who was Apple’s former CTO. He co-founded Wheels of Zeus with Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak in 2001, which was sold to Zontrak in 2006. Alex was Chief Technology Officer, Federal Government at Power Assure and then Vice President at Vigilent before starting Ripcord. Alex sits on the Board of Directors of The Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), is a Board Member of the Code Warrior Foundation and is a founding member of Singularity University. He is an Orange Telecom mentor in their Mentor Fab startup accelerator and an Advisor to Astra Space.
As VP of Talent and Chief of Staff to CEO, Alex Fielding, Brooke is responsible for Human Resources, Recruiting, and partnering with Alex on key Ripcord initiatives and priorities. Prior to Ripcord, Brooke spent ~7 years at Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund with $160 billion under management, working on the Chief of Staff team to CEO, Eileen Murray. At Bridgewater, Brooke helped the CEO oversee Bridgewater departments such as Human Resources, Operations, and Core Management of the organization. Brooke graduated from the University of Vermont with a major in English and a minor in Political Science. Brooke is the founder of the Pink Pop Up Party to benefit the Norma Pfriem Breast Center which provides medical treatment and support to underinsured women with breast cancer.
As Chief Technology Officer, Kevin is responsible for engineering research and development, technology creation and direction, and leading Ripcord’s growing hardware and software teams. Kevin has deep experience in industrial robotics. Prior to Ripcord, he was the founder of Source Robotics, a robotics consulting company that primarily focused on automation system design and machine vision for robot guidance. Earlier in his career, Kevin was a Robotics Application Engineer at Adept Technology where he designed and deployed vision guided, industrial robotic systems; and, he was a robotics engineer at Synbotics, where he developed autonomous ground vehicles for the US military. Kevin graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Mechatronics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was also actively involved in robotics research.
As Chief Financial Officer, Ron is responsible for managing the company’s finances, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting.
Ron brings a wealth of both public and private company experience, leading Finance, Operations, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, IT and Business Analytics. Prior to Ripcord, Ron led two venture backed companies to successful exits, guided two of the top five global electronics manufacturers to achieve significant growth in topline and profitability. Helped establish revenue recognition guidelines and compliance for one of the largest software companies in the world. He has raised over $300 million in capital and completed over $5.5 billion private and public company acquisitions. Ron will focus on Ripcord’s annual and long term planning, decision support, business insights and analytics.
As VP of Operations, Jens is responsible for establishing, maintaining and growing Ripcord’s services and production. Jens also played a key role in designing the engineering team in the beginning stages of the company. Jens brings many years of robotics and automation experience to Ripcord. Prior to Ripcord, Jens ran a mechanical design and manufacturing consulting company serving customers like ATK Space, Calient and FLIR. He holds advanced degrees in both Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with an emphasis in lean production and manufacturing.
Prasad is currently responsible for managing global compliance, and risk management program at Ripcord. Prasad has had a 25-year career as a business and technology leader in Healthcare, Utilities, Energy, Government with proven expertise in building compliance and security controls to mitigate regulatory and governance risks. He has strong domain expertise building compliance and security solutions across industry regulations and compliance frameworks for HIPAA, HITECH, RMF, GDPR, ISO 27001. Recent works include shaping and executing organizational and business processes changes for guaranteeing privacy and security in the context of imaging and digitization.
Khan will spearhead Ripcord’s digital growth, including developing an integrated marketing strategy and programs. He is tasked with helping shape the unique and innovative digital transformation agenda and scaling the business for newer partner and customer outreach.
Khan brings a proven business track record for driving sales, building sustainable growth and increasing profitability to Ripcord—all this in addition to a rich, deep understanding of the drivers behind current corporate data and information management solution purchases. An expert and pioneer in cloud-based document sharing solutions and SaaS sales models, Khan is ideally placed to drive Ripcord’s market penetration in new sectors and new geographies.
Chris Chib is Vice President of Sales for Ripcord, where he is responsible for advancing the company’s sales strategy and growing the customer base. Chris brings more than 15 years of technology sales and executive management experience to Ripcord. Prior to Ripcord, Chris increased AccuImage’s imaging and workflow business by over 200%. Chris also has held leadership sales positions with ShoreTel Communications and Bank of America. He currently sits on the Board of the Silicon Valley chapter of ARMA/AIIM.
As VP of Products, Jason is responsible for identifying markets and defining product direction and go to market strategies. With over 26 years of experience, Jason has a strong background and passion in building solutions that are market driven and impactful to customers.
Prior to Ripcord, Jason was VP of Product Management at OpenText where he managed multiple product lines and saw revenue growth from $290M to over $3B during his time there. Prior to OpenText, Jason held sales and product management roles at Quest Software and BMC Software participating in successful IPO and acquisition.
As Vice President of Channels and Alliances, Alan is responsible for recruiting and selecting new partners, inspiring them with Ripcord values, and driving sales strategies and revenue. He is also responsible for building a channel support program and team capable of managing a fast-growing partner network by offering partners the necessary training, education and motivation.
Alan joins Ripcord from PRM Advisory Group, a partner program development firm he founded. Prior to that, he worked in the information management industry, including 15 years at Iron Mountain, where he held several leadership positions in information technology, document management solutions and channel sales.
As Sr. Vice President, Sales, Chris is responsible for managing the company’s sales and marketing direction. He leads the customer acquisition teams and works with our Alliances group to engage sales/ partner relationships.
Having previously worked for Iron Mountain, Dell/ EMC, Oracle, OpenText, and Quantum, Chris brings extensive experience in leading sales teams in Data Management/ Information Governance, IT Hardware systems, and Complex Software Sales. Chris led sales teams that were focused on traditional data protection strategies and Information Management/ Enterprise Content Management solutions in North America. Chris will focus on Ripcord’s Annual Sales/ Marketing Goals to achieve the company’s financial objectives and expand a global customer base with the latest Ripcord Digital Transformational Portfolio of Solutions.
Ahson Ahmad is the Executive Vice President & Chief Product Officer of Ripcord and is responsible for product strategy and direction.
Ahson is a passionate technologist, having gone through the engineering, professional services and sales ranks before he made the switch to product management, which was motivated out of customer empathy – because “customers deserve better products”.
Ahson is also industry veteran in the content management space – having worked for two decades across three continents in the content management space for industry leaders: EMC Documentum, Alfresco and OpenText where ran major product ECM product lines before moving fully into the innovation space by creating multiple native, cloud-based ECM platforms and apps from the ground up.
Investors & Advisors
Bruce Scott has an extensive background in computer engineering spanning more than 30 years. He co-founded Oracle Corporation in 1977 and served as its Principal Engineer and Co-Architect of the first three versions of the Oracle database. He helped to revolutionize the database market.
Jon Callas is an American computer security expert, software engineer, user experience designer, and technologist who is the co-founder and former CTO of the global encrypted communications service Silent Circle. He worked at Apple in the 1990s, from 2009 to 2011 to help beef up OS X’s security and he recently rejoined Apple in 2016 to head crypto-security.
Patrick is currently the President and CEO of Aspect Software a Vector Capital owned company. Patrick was recently the President and CEO of Guidance Software which was ultimately acquired by OpenText. Patrick served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at EMC’s Enterprise and Mid-Range Storage Division and Cloud Management Division. Prior to EMC, Patrick was the Group Vice President for the North American Storage Sales organization at Oracle.
